Apprenticeships at Qualitrain Engineering Academy
Engineering Operative

Level 2 – This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to gain core skills, knowledge and behaviours to carry out fundamental Engineering operations.

General Welder

Level 2 – This programme provides the core skills, knowledge and behaviours required to succeed as a General Welder, working with metals to create high-strength welds in 2 welding positions, using at least 1 arc welding process.

Engineering Technician

Level 3 – This qualification upskills learners to demonstrate a core set of behaviours in order to be competent in their job role and complement wider business strategy and development.

Metal Fabricator

Level 3 – This qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge required to carry out metal fabrication work using things such as rolled steel joists, columns, channels, steel plate and metal sheet etc.

Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician

Level 3 – This qualification teaches the core skills required for maintaining the safety, integrity and effective operation of plant and equipment in manufacturing and engineering organisations.

Rail Engineering Operative

Level 2 – This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to gain core skills and knowledge enabling them to support to Rail Engineers and Technicians.

Rail Engineering Technician

Level 3 – A Rail Engineering Technician has the core skills and knowledge to provide support to Rail Engineers working on The Railway.

Lifting Equipment Engineering Technician

Level 3 – This qualification teaches apprentices how to repair, maintain, modify, inspect, test, install and assemble lifting equipment to ensure its suitability and safety for a continued period of service.

Qualitrain has proved itself well able to be an important part of the team at Bombardier, carrying out Core Competency training for all temporary staff, which has been integrated with qualification in Performing Manufacturing Operations. As well as the PMO qualification Qualitrain has implemented Business Improvement Techniques training across the company to help enhance the World Class Manufacturing aims of the business. The quality of Qualitrain's input, and the hard work put in by their team, brought great success with this project, with 100% pass rate at Level 2.
